The Elm Calendar is the Universitywide events calendar used across UMB websites. It allows schools and administrative units to share events with a broad audience and display those events on their webpages.

Events are added directly to the calendar, and feeds of upcoming events can be embedded on any webpage using the content management system.

When to Use the Elm Calendar

The Elm Calendar is intended for events that are relevant to a Universitywide audience.

Appropriate Events

Events should be open to one or more of the following groups:

  • Students
  • Faculty
  • Staff
  • The broader community

Events may be audience-specific (e.g., student-only or faculty-only), as long as they are open to that group across the University.

Not Appropriate for the Elm Calendar

  • Events limited to a specific school, department, or unit (e.g., pharmacy students only, dental school staff only)
    • These types of events should be posted to your Internal Calendar instead.

Key Guidelines

When adding events to the Elm Calendar:

  • Complete all required fields
  • Follow University editorial and style guidelines
  • Stay within character limits
  • Clearly indicate the intended audience in your event description

To avoid duplicate entries:

  • Only add events that your unit is responsible for
  • If you want to feature an event hosted by another unit, use a shared feed or contact the OCPA Web Team for assistance
